The adverse driving conditions exception gives a driver two extra hours to advance the load closer to the destination.(Required)
Delayed trailers, loading delays, paperwork delays, and normal rush-hour traffic generally do not qualify as adverse driving conditions.(Required)
If a driver knows about a snowstorm before beginning the trip, the snowstorm itself may not qualify as an adverse driving condition; however, an unexpected crash and road closure caused by the storm may qualify if it occurs after driving begins.(Required)
Any driver may properly document adverse driving conditions in the ELD by writing, “Used safe haven."(Required)
When using adverse driving conditions, the driver’s ELD note should explain what happened, where it happened, why it was unexpected, and why the additional time was needed.(Required)
