Mark your calendars for May 13-15, 2025. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will conduct its annual International Roadcheck, a 72-hour inspection event involving thousands of commercial motor vehicle inspections across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This high-visibility initiative is one of the most significant compliance events of the year for carriers and drivers.
During this event, inspectors will perform the North American Standard Level I Inspection. This 37-step procedure reviews driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness. While inspectors will check all standard components, this year’s spotlight is on two key areas: tire safety and false or inaccurate Records of Duty Status (RODS).
Both focus areas are frequent sources of out-of-service violations. That means unnecessary downtime, lost revenue, and potential safety scores impacts. Common violations include low tire tread, sidewall damage, flat or underinflated tires, and logbook errors such as ghost co-drivers or improper use of personal conveyance.
Now is the time to take the lead. Proactive preparation can make all the difference in helping your drivers pass inspections and keeping your fleet moving. Use these free resources to get started.
